അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ക്രിക്കറ്റ് തിരിച്ചുവന്നതിന്റെ ആവേശത്തിലാണ് ക്രിക്കറ്റ് പ്രേമികള്‍. കൊറോണക്കാലത്തെ ആദ്യ ടെസ്റ്റില്‍ വെസ്റ്റ് ഇന്‍ഡീസ് ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിനെ അവരുടെ നാട്ടില്‍ അട്ടിമറിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
സതാംപ്ടണ്‍: അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ക്രിക്കറ്റ് തിരിച്ചുവന്നതിന്റെ ആവേശത്തിലാണ് ക്രിക്കറ്റ് പ്രേമികള്‍. കൊറോണക്കാലത്തെ ആദ്യ ടെസ്റ്റില്‍ വെസ്റ്റ് ഇന്‍ഡീസ് ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിനെ അവരുടെ നാട്ടില്‍ അട്ടിമറിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. സതാംപ്ടണില്‍ നാല് വിക്കറ്റിനായിരുന്നു ജേസണ്‍ ഹോള്‍ഡറുടെയും സംഘത്തിന്റെയും ജയം. അവസാന ദിവസം 200 റണ്‍സ് വിജയലക്ഷ്യം പിന്തുടര്‍ന്ന വിന്‍ഡീസ് ആറ് വിക്കറ്റ് നഷ്ടത്തിലാണ് ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലെത്തിയത്. സ്‌കോര്‍ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട് 204, 313, വെസ്റ്റ് ഇന്‍ഡീസ് 318, 200/6. വിജയത്തോടെ മൂന്ന് മത്സര പരമ്പരയില്‍ വിന്‍ഡീസ് 1-0ന് മുന്നിലെത്തി.
ഒഴിഞ്ഞ സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തിലാണ് മല്‍സരം നടന്നതെങ്കിലും ആവേശത്തിനു ഒട്ടും കുറവുണ്ടായില്ല. 2003നു ശേഷം സ്വന്തം നാട്ടില്‍ ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിനു ടെസ്റ്റിലേറ്റ ആദ്യത്തെ തോല്‍വി കൂടിയായിരുന്നു സതാംപ്ടണിലേത്. മാത്രമല്ല 2000ത്തിനു ശേഷം ഇംഗ്ലണ്ടിനെ വിന്‍ഡീസ് അവരുടെ തട്ടകത്തില്‍ വീഴ്ത്തിയത് ഇതു രണ്ടാം തവണയാണ്. ജയത്തോടെ വിന്‍ഡീസ് ടീമിനെ അഭിനന്ദിച്ച് രംഗത്തെത്തിയിരിക്കുയാണ് ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ലോകം.
മുന്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ താരം വിരേന്ദര്‍ സെവാഗ്, ക്യാപ്റ്റന്‍ വിരാട് കോലി എന്നിവല്ലാം വിന്‍ഡീസിന്റെ വിജയത്തെ അഭിനന്ദിച്ചു. ''വൗ.. വെസ്റ്റ് ഇന്‍ഡീസ് ക്രിക്കറ്റ് എന്തൊരു ജയമാണിത്. ടെസ്റ്റ് ക്രിക്കറ്റിന്റെ ഉയര്‍ന്ന നിലവാരത്തിലുള്ള പ്രകടനം.'' കോലി ട്വീറ്റ് ചെയ്തു. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ മുന്‍ വെടിക്കെട്ട് ബാറ്റ്സ്മാന്‍ വീരേന്ദര്‍ സെവാഗും വിന്‍ഡീസ് ടീമിനെ പ്രശംസിച്ചു. ''ടെസ്റ്റ് ക്രിക്കറ്റില്‍ വെസ്റ്റ് ഇന്‍ഡീസ് ടീം മികച്ച പ്രകടനം നടത്തുന്നത് ഏറെ സന്തോഷിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. ടെസ്റ്റ് മത്സരങ്ങള്‍ തിരിച്ചെത്തിയതും വിന്‍ഡീസ് ജയിച്ചതും മഹത്തായ കാര്യമാണ്. അഭിനന്ദനങ്ങള്‍.'' സെവാഗ് കുറിച്ചിട്ടു.
