2004ലായിരുന്നു ആര്‍തിയുമായുള്ള സെവാഗിന്റെ വിവാഹം. ജെയ്റ്റ്‌ലിയാണ് സെവാഗിന്റെ പിതാവിനോട് 9 അശോക റോഡിലെ തന്റെ സ്വന്തം വസതി ഒഴിഞ്ഞു കിടക്കുകയാണെന്നും അവിടെവെച്ച് വിവാഹം നടത്തിക്കൊള്ളാനും നിര്‍ദേശിച്ചത്.
ദില്ലി: രാഷ്ട്രീയക്കാരനും അഭിഭാഷകനും മാത്രമല്ല ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ലോകവുമായി അടുത്ത ബന്ധം സൂക്ഷിച്ച വ്യക്തി കൂടിയായിരുന്നു ഇന്ന് അന്തരിച്ച ബിജെപി നേതാവും മുന്‍ ധനമന്ത്രിയുമായ അരുണ്‍ ജെയ്റ്റ്ലി. മുന്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഓപ്പണര്‍ വീരേന്ദര്‍ സെവാഗിന്റെ വിവാഹത്തിന് സ്വന്തം ഔദ്യോഗിക വസതി വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കാന്‍ ജെയ്റ്റ്‌ലിയെ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചതും ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ലോകവുമായുളള ഈ ബന്ധം തന്നെയായിരുന്നു.
2004ലായിരുന്നു ആര്‍തിയുമായുള്ള സെവാഗിന്റെ വിവാഹം. ജെയ്റ്റ്‌ലിയാണ് സെവാഗിന്റെ പിതാവിനോട് 9 അശോക റോഡിലെ തന്റെ സ്വന്തം വസതി ഒഴിഞ്ഞു കിടക്കുകയാണെന്നും അവിടെവെച്ച് വിവാഹം നടത്തിക്കൊള്ളാനും നിര്‍ദേശിച്ചത്. സെവാഗിന്റെ വിവാഹത്തിനായി ജെയ്റ്റ്ലി തന്നെ മുന്‍കൈയെടുത്ത് വീട് മോടി പിടിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. എന്നാല്‍ ബംഗലൂരുവില്‍ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് പ്രചാരണത്തിലായതിനാല്‍ ജെയ്റ്റ്‌ലിക്ക് അന്ന് സെവാഗിന്റെ വിവാഹത്തില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാനായില്ല. ഡല്‍ഹി ക്രിക്കറ്റ് അസോസിയേഷന്‍ അധ്യക്ഷനായിരുന്ന ജെയ്റ്റ്ലി ഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍ നിന്നുളള കളിക്കാര്‍ക്ക് ദേശീയ ടീമിലേക്ക് വാതില്‍ തുറന്നുകൊടുക്കുന്നതിലും മുന്‍കൈയെടുത്തു.
കളിക്കാരോട് വ്യക്തിപരമായ ബന്ധം കാത്തുസൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിലും അവരുടെ ആവശ്യങ്ങള്‍ നിറവേറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കുന്നതിലും ജെയ്റ്റ്ലി എല്ലായ്പ്പോഴും മുന്‍കൈയെടുത്തു. ജെയ്റ്റ്ലിയുടെ നിര്യാണത്തില്‍ അനുശോചിച്ച് സെവാഗ് ചെയ്ത ട്വീറ്റിലും ഇക്കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ എടുത്തുപറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
But under his leadership at the DDCA, many players including me got a chance to represent India. He listened to needs of the players & was a problem solver.
