കോലി നാലാമനായതോടെ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ നാലാം നമ്പറില്‍ സ്ഥാനം ഉറപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന ശ്രേയസ് അയ്യര്‍ അഞ്ചാം സ്ഥാനത്തേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങേണ്ടിവന്നു. അയ്യരാകട്ടെ നാലു റണ്ണെടുത്ത് പുറത്തായി.
മുംബൈ: ഓസ്ട്രേലിയക്കെതിരായ ഏകദിന പരമ്പരയിലെ ആദ്യ മത്സരത്തില്‍ നാലാം നമ്പറില്‍ ബാറ്റിംഗിനിറങ്ങിയ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ നായകന്‍ വിരാട് കോലിക്കെതിരെ വിമര്‍ശനവുമായി ആരാധകര്‍. മികച്ച ഫോമിലുള്ള കെ എല്‍ രാഹുലിനെയും ശിഖര്‍ ധവാനെയും ടീമിലുള്‍പ്പെടുത്തിയതോടെയാണ് രാഹുലിനെ മൂന്നാം നമ്പറില്‍ കളിപ്പിച്ച് കോലി നാലാം നമ്പറിലേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങിയത്.
എന്നാല്‍ നാലാം നമ്പറിലെത്തിയെ കോലിക്ക് തിളങ്ങാനുമായില്ല. 16 റണ്‍സെടുത്ത് കോലി പുറത്തായി. മൂന്നാം നമ്പറില്‍ രാഹുല്‍ 47 റണ്‍സടിച്ചു. കോലി നാലാമനായതോടെ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ നാലാം നമ്പറില്‍ സ്ഥാനം ഉറപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന ശ്രേയസ് അയ്യര്‍ അഞ്ചാം സ്ഥാനത്തേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങേണ്ടിവന്നു. അയ്യരാകട്ടെ നാലു റണ്ണെടുത്ത് പുറത്തായി. ഇതാണ് ആരാധകരുടെ വിമര്‍ശനത്തിന് കാരണമായത്.
നേരത്തെ കമന്ററിക്കിടെ ഓസ്ട്രേലിയന്‍ മുന്‍ ഓപ്പണര്‍ മാത്യു ഹെയ്ഡനും കോലിയുടെ തീരുമാനത്തിനെതിരെ രംഗത്തെത്തിയിരുന്നു. മൂന്നാം നമ്പറില്‍ പതിനായിരത്തോളം റണ്‍സടിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള കോലി എന്തിനാണ് നാലാം നമ്പറില്‍ ഇറങ്ങുന്നതെന്ന് ഹെയ്ഡന് ചോദിച്ചിരുന്നു. എല്ലാവരെയും ഉള്‍പ്പെടുത്താനാവില്ലെന്നും ചില കടുത്ത തീരുമാനങ്ങള്‍ എടുക്കേണ്ട സാഹചര്യങ്ങളുണ്ടാകുമെന്നും ഹെയ്ഡന് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.

India should fix no.4 position. Not fiddle with no.3 position unnecessarily & compound the problem. Kohli has been immensely successful at 3 & must retain that position. Don't muff up no.3 position in order to fix no.4. That's not how things are done. Don't fix that ain't broken.
