ലോക അത്ലറ്റിക് സംഘടനയുടെ വുമണ്‍ ഓഫ് ദ് ഇയര്‍ പുരസ്കാരത്തിന് തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ടതില്‍ അഭിമാനമുണ്ടെന്ന് അഞ്ജു വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
സൂറിച്ച് : ലോക അത്ലറ്റിക്സ്(World Athletics) സംഘടനയുടെ വുമൺ ഓഫ് ദ് ഇയര്‍(Woman of Year Award) പുരസ്കാരത്തിന് ഒളിംപ്യന്‍ അഞ്ജു ബോബി ജോര്‍ജ്(Anju Bobby George) അര്‍ഹയായി. കായികരംഗത്തു നിന്ന് വിരമിച്ചതിനുശേഷം ഇന്ത്യന്‍ അത്ലറ്റിക്സിനും സ്ത്രീശാക്തീകരണത്തിനും നൽകുന്ന സംഭാവനകള്‍ പരിഗണിച്ചാണ് പുരസ്കാരം.
അഞ്ജു ബോബി ജോര്‍ജ് അക്കാഡമിയിലെ ശൈലി സിംഗ്, ലോക ജൂനിയര്‍ ചാംപ്യന്‍ഷിപ്പില്‍ മെഡൽ നേടിയതും കണക്കിലെടുത്തതായി പുരസ്കാര നിര്‍ണയ സമിതി അറിയിച്ചു. അഞ്ജുവിന്‍റെ നേട്ടങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ വനിതകള്‍ക്ക് അവരുടെ കാല്‍പ്പാടുകള്‍ പിന്തുടര്‍ന്ന് കായികരംഗത്തെത്താന്‍ പ്രചോദനമായതായി ലോക അത്ലറ്റിക്സ് ട്വീറ്റില്‍ വ്യക്തമാക്കി.

In 2016 opened a training academy for young girls, which has already helped to produce a world U20 medallist. A constant voice for gender equality, she also mentors schoolgirls for future leadership positions within the sport.
