പെണ്‍ ശരീരത്തിലെ സ്വഭാവിക പ്രക്രിയയാണ് ആര്‍ത്തവം. ആര്‍ത്തവദിനങ്ങള്‍ സ്ത്രീകളെ സംബന്ധിച്ചിടത്തോളം പ്രയാസം നിറഞ്ഞതാണ്. ആ ദിനങ്ങളിലെ വേദന പലര്‍ക്കും ഒരു പേടി സ്വപ്നമാണ്. ഇവിടെ തങ്ങള്‍ അനുഭവിക്കുന്ന വേദനയെന്തെന്ന് ലോകത്തോട് വിളിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞ ഒരു പ്രൊഫസറെ അഭിനന്ദിക്കുകയാണ് സാമൂഹിക മാധ്യമങ്ങളിലൂടെ സ്ത്രീകള്‍.
ആർത്തവ വേദന ഹൃദായാഘാതത്തിന് തുല്യമായ വേദനയാണുണ്ടാക്കുന്നതെന്നാണ് ലണ്ടൻ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി കൊളേജിലെ റീപ്രൊഡക്റ്റീവ് ഹെൽത്ത് വിഭാഗത്തിലെ പ്രഫസറായ ജോൺ ഗിൽബെഡ് പറയുന്നത്. അദ്ദേഹം നിരവധിപേരെ നടത്തിയ അഭിമുഖത്തില്‍ അഞ്ചില്‍ ഒരാള്‍ ഇത്തരത്തിലുളള ആര്‍ത്തവ വേദനയിലൂടെയാണ് കടന്നുപേകുന്നത് എന്ന് കണ്ടെത്തി. സ്ത്രീകള്‍ ഒന്നടങ്കം ഇത് ശരിവെക്കുകയും പ്രാഫസറെ അഭിനന്ദിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
വർഷങ്ങളായി ഞങ്ങനുഭവിക്കുന്ന വേദനകളെപ്പറ്റി ഇങ്ങനെ തുറന്നു പറയാൻ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടെന്നും പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടാണ് ലോകമെമ്പാടുമുള്ള സ്ത്രീകൾ തങ്ങളുടെ അനുഭവങ്ങൾ സമൂഹമാധ്യമങ്ങളിലൂടെ പങ്കുവെച്ചത്. എന്നാല്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്‍റെ ഈ കണ്ടെത്തല്‍ വൈറലായതോടെ പുരുഷന്‍മാര്‍ വിയോജിപ്പുമായി രംഗത്തെത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഈ വാര്‍ത്ത തെറ്റാണെന്നും പരിഹാസ്യമാണെന്നും പുരുഷസമൂഹം പറയുന്നു.
