ഇക്കഴിഞ്ഞ ദക്ഷിണാഫ്രിക്കന്‍ പര്യടനത്തിലെ ടെസ്റ്റ് പരമ്പരയില്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ 2-1ന് തോറ്റതോടെയാണ് കോലി നായകസ്ഥാനം ഒഴിഞ്ഞത്. പിന്നാലെ രോഹിത്തിനെ മുഴുവന്‍ സമയ ക്യാപ്റ്റനായി തീരുമാനിച്ചു.
മുംബൈ: ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ക്യാപ്റ്റന് രോഹിത് ശര്‍മയ്ക്ക് (Rohit Sharma) പിറന്നാള്‍ ആശംസകള്‍ വിരാട് കോലി (Virat Kohli) ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള പ്രമുഖര്‍. ഇന്ന് 35-ാം പിറന്നാള്‍ ആഘോഷിക്കുകയാണ് മുംബൈ ഇന്ത്യന്‍സിന്റെ (Mumbai Indians) ക്യാപ്റ്റന്‍കൂടിയായ രോഹിത്. കോലിക്ക് പുറമെ മുന്‍ താരങ്ങളായ ഹര്‍ഭജന്‍ സിംഗ്, യുവരാജ് സിംഗ് സമകാലീകരായ അജിന്‍ക്യ രഹാനെ, യൂസ്‌വേന്ദ്ര ചാഹല്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവരും രോഹിത്തിന് ആശംസയുമായെത്തി.

ഇന്ത്യ പ്രഥമ ടി20 ലോകകപ്പ് കിരീടം നേടുമ്പോള്‍ ടീമിലംഗമായിരുന്നു രോഹിത്. എന്നാല്‍ 2011ല്‍ ഇന്ത്യ ഏകദിന ലോകകപ്പ് നേടുമ്പോള്‍ ടീമിലെത്താന്‍ രോഹിത്തിനായില്ല. 2013 മുതല്‍ ടീമിന്റെ ഓപ്പണറായി കളിച്ചുതുടങ്ങിയ രോഹിത്തിന് പിന്നീട് തിരിഞ്ഞുനോക്കേണ്ടി വന്നിട്ടില്ല. ആ വര്‍ഷം നവംബര്‍ രണ്ടിന് രോഹിത് ഏകദിനത്തിലെ ആദ്യ ഇരട്ട സെഞ്ചുറി നേടി. ഓസ്‌ട്രേലിയക്കെതിരെ 209 റണ്‍സാണ് താരം അടിച്ചെടുത്തത്. 2017ല്‍ ശ്രീലങ്കയ്‌ക്കെതിരെ രണ്ടാം ഇരട്ട സെഞ്ചുറി. 208 റണ്‍സാണ് അന്ന് നേടിയത്.
2019 ഏകദിന ലോകകപ്പില്‍ ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതല്‍ റണ്‍സ് നേടിയ താരം രോഹിത്തായിരുന്നു. 648 റണ്‍സാണ് രോഹിത് അടിച്ചെടുത്തത്. അഞ്ച് സെഞ്ചുറികള്‍ ഇതില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെടും. എന്നാല്‍ ടീം സെമിയില്‍ ന്യൂസിലന്‍ഡിനോട് തോറ്റ് പുറത്തായി. ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ക്യാപ്റ്റന് താരങ്ങളും മുന്‍ താരങ്ങളും അയച്ച പിറന്നാള്‍ ആശംസകള്‍ വായിക്കാം...
