സന്തോഷം, വിഷാദം, കോപം തുടങ്ങി എട്ട് മനോനിലകളാണ് ഫാഷന്‍, ഫോട്ടോഗ്രഫി, വീഡിയോഗ്രഫി, സോളോ പെര്‍ഫോര്‍മന്‍സ്, കവിത, സ്ട്രക്ച്ചറല്‍ ഡിസൈന്‍ എന്നീ കലകള്‍ ചേരുന്ന 'ദി അല്‍മിറ' എന്ന ഫാഷന്‍ ആര്‍ട്ട് ഇൻസ്റ്റലേഷൻ പ്രോജക്ട്.

The Almirah is a fashion art installation project depicting the several mental states of a woman during the COVID times. The Almirah represents the mind and its intangible feelings and expressions. For some women, this COVID lockdown meant happiness as they could spend more time with their families. Some women felt trapped and experienced frustration, sadness, emptiness, longing, etc. There is an almirah in everyone's life, not merely possessing your wardrobe, but also your secrets, your desires, your hopes, and other intangible emotions. കൊച്ചി ആസ്ഥാനമായ റെഡ് ലോട്ടസ് ഫാഷൻ ഡിസൈനിങ്ങിന്റെ ഉടമയും ഡിസൈനറുമായ ശര്‍മിള ‘ദി അൽമിറ’ എന്ന ഫാഷൻ ആർട്ട് ഇൻസ്റ്റലേഷൻ പ്രോജക്ടിനെക്കുറിച്ച് പറയുന്നത് ഇങ്ങനെ: 'റെഡ് ലോട്ടസിന് വേണ്ടി സാരികളുടെ ഒരു ഫോട്ടോഷൂട്ട് നടത്താനായിരുന്നു പ്ലാന്‍. ലോക്ഡൗൺ നീണ്ടതോടെ ആ പ്രോജക്ട് നിശ്ചലമായി. അങ്ങനെയാണ് പുതിയൊരു പ്രോജക്ടിനെപ്പറ്റി ചിന്തിച്ചതും അൽമിറയിലേക്കെത്തിയതും'- ശര്‍മിള ഏഷ്യാനെറ്റ് ന്യൂസ് ഓണ്‍ലൈനിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു. ഹാന്‍ഡ് ലൂം സാരികളാണ് ഈ പ്രോജക്റ്റിന് വേണ്ടി ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് എന്നും കൊച്ചി വൈറ്റില സ്വദേശിയായ ശര്‍മിള പറയുന്നു.
കൊവിഡ് കാലത്ത് സ്ത്രീകള്‍ കടന്നുപോയ ഭാവങ്ങളാണ് പകര്‍ത്താന്‍ ശ്രമിച്ചത്. പെൺജീവിതത്തിൽ അലമാരയ്ക്കു വലിയ പങ്കുണ്ട്. കേരളത്തില്‍ വിവാഹശേഷം കണ്ടുവരാറുള്ള ഒരു ചടങ്ങാണ് 'അടുക്കള കാണല്‍'. വരന്റെ വീട്ടിലേയ്ക്ക് വരുന്ന വധുവിന്‍റെ കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങള്‍ നല്‍കുന്ന പല സമ്മാനങ്ങളില്‍ ഒന്നാണ് അലമാരി. ഈ അലമാര ക്രമേണ അവളുടെ സ്വകാര്യജീവിതത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി മാറുന്നു. അങ്ങനെയാണ് സ്ത്രീകളുടെ മനോനിലകള്‍ പകര്‍ത്താന്‍ അലമാരയും ഒരു കഥാപാത്രമായതെന്നും ശര്‍മിള പറയുന്നു.
The Almirah is a fashion art installation project depicting the several mental states of a woman during the COVID times. We are presenting the first state of mind 'Happiness'. During the first phase of the lockdown, many of us experienced happiness by spending more time with the family and near and dear ones. അലമാരിക്കുള്ളില്‍ സോളോ പെര്‍ഫോര്‍മന്‍സ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത് നര്‍ത്തകിയായ രമ്യ സുവിയാണ്. രമ്യയുടെ ഉയരത്തിന് അനുസരിച്ച് അലമാര പണിയിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു എന്നും ശര്‍മിള പറയുന്നു. ചിത്രീകരണ സമയത്തെ പ്രധാനവെല്ലുവിളി ഷൂട്ട് ചെയ്യുമ്പോഴുള്ള റിഫ്ലക്‌ഷനായിരുന്നു. ചില്ലലമാരയിലൂടെ ഷൂട്ട് ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ വരുന്ന ലൈറ്റിനെ കട്ട് ചെയ്യാനാണ് ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ പണിയെടുത്തത് എന്നും ശര്‍മിള പറയുന്നു.
